Hey Peeps! You must have noticed this truly classic pattern undergoing a wave of resurgence in the last few months. I am referring to the timeless Houndstooth pattern.
In the fashion world with its changing trends, I gravitate towards the classics. Checks, stripes, and solids have been my all time favourites. I definitely have been warming up to the houndstooth pattern since last six months or so.
I have this pattern in trousers, a bell-sleeved and a strappy top, a jacket as well as a dungaree skirt. Still, I don’t feel it’s too many and my affinity towards this pattern is not going away any time soon.
What is the Houndstooth pattern?
Before I show you all the ways I have styled till now in my houndstooth, let us know what is it? Houndstooth is a modified version of checks. It is also known as dog’s tooth or pied-de-poule. You can always see this pattern in duotone textile pattern represented by broken checks. Generally, it’s seen in a black and white pattern. Nowadays textile makers are being more creative and launching a lot of coloured patterns as well.
The brit chic look
Women’s peacoat is a classic jacket used in low to midwinters. A tailored peacoat is a must have in every women’s closet especially when they are someone like me – a woman on the go. I created this look by using mostly the vintage pieces in my closet. To complete this look I have used my ankle length boots and chequered beret.
Crop it up
I firmly believe if you have curves flaunt it. I love wearing crops tops. This time I have ditched my regular body fitted crop top. I have styled my crop top with a pencil skirt and black heels. Isn’t it effortless yet sassy?
Be casual in your dungarees
I often hear that houndstooth should always be worn as formals. Does it hold true every time? I love wearing dungarees as they give me back to school feeling. I have dungarees in denim, cotton and a pinafore dress too. This is one outfit I feel I would wear even when I am in my 60’s. After all, age is just a number. I love the feel of this dungaree where a casual outfit has been tailored in formal prints.
We have come a long way. Power dressing is something we all women love. To ditch the usually pleated trouser and plain shirt I decided to wear a ruffled top. This ruffled top paired with houndstooth trousers makes the look feminine yet commanding.
You would have noticed me wearing a lot strapped outfits during summer and monsoon. Well, I love being carefree and wear something really comfortable. This top is perfect for a day wear during spring, summer or monsoon. You can style it with solid coloured jackets during winter.
Keep the layering game on
Lightweight jackets are always there with me, especially, when it comes to office wear or travel. In Bangalore, you never know when would the temperature fall. This houndstooth jacket with floral print can be worn as both a formal and casual add-on layer.
