Hey there! Thank you for showing so much love for the glimpses of my contemporary saree look in Instagram. My initial aim was to showcase Panigha India’s recent collection through this post.
However, on receiving the package, I had a change of mind, the post should have a deeper relevant meaning. It wasn’t because the options to pair them are limited to ethnic outfits.
On the contrary, any silver handmade ethnic jewellery is versatile and pairs with most outfits with ease.
Is beauty relevant?
So how was I going to make it “deep” and “relevant”? Why, in the first place do we wear jewellery? Obviously, to look beautiful!
Now, to quote the cliche, is beauty skin deep? Why can’t strong and empowered be equally pleasing to the eyes? Has years of conditioning ingrained a few stereotypes in us?
Yes, I am wearing a saree with suitable makeup. However to make a point, I am pairing the saree with a turtle neck top and boots. But wait a minute, aren’t these so called symbols of strength and empowerment?
The gender debate
I had a few thoughts crossing my mind while putting together the look and getting dressed. Here I was trying to add strength and character to my look, however, aren’t these the hallmark of masculinity?
So was I trying to ignite a raging debate on felinity vs masculinity? No, absolutely not!
I am not here prove that either men or women are superior. We all are unique with unique qualities and skillset.
Of course we women are physically weaker plus we have monthly problems which pulls us down. We still get up, dress up and show up.
Equals in a complicated world
I just want to say that all my readers – be it a man or woman, please stop fighting over oneupmanship and prove yourself to others. It’s fruitful to work on your strengths and help each other to grow.
Through this post I specially want to give message to the new and old generation – stop defining a man and woman’s role in their life. A man or a woman cannot control physical and natural things like pregnancy, periods, masculine power and strength.
But yes, we have created a much better world beyond that, where a man is trying to take care of household responsibility and woman has started stepping out of their house to run the family too.
Let us stop fighting like petty politicians and stop judging others.
Let us make it a simple world. Let there be peace!
Hope this thought would help you to improve yourself and stay out of negativity.
Until the next time.
