Hey Peeps! Hope you enjoyed reading my first post on Pattaya stay for couples. Amari Ocean, Pattaya is perfect for couples and families and we spent considerable time enjoying the marvellous hospitality. We did take out some time every day to explore the city and measure how it feels in Pattaya for couples. Here are few things we have chosen to do in Pattaya for Couples.
The best time to visit Pattaya
Anytime between November to March is a right choice to visit Pattaya. We have visited Thailand during December both the times and could experience mild weather and decked up cities.
How to reach Pattaya?
Like most other tourists, we travelled to Pattaya from Bangkok. It’s 122 Km away and connected by world-class Highways 7 and 3. You can either book a private cab or take a bus. We wanted to experience both, so, we took a cab from Bangkok to Pattaya and while returning we took a bus the other way. In Bangkok, you need to go to the eastern, Ekamai Bus Terminus, next to the Ekamai BTS station. Pattaya is relatively smaller and you need to go to The Pattaya Bus Terminus in North Pattaya Road.
Bangkok to Pattaya Cab (sedan, up to 3 passengers) fare- 1200 THB
Pattaya to Bangkok Bus fare- 120 THB/person
Our hotel was right at the North end overlooking the magnificent Jomtien beach, which is spread out over 7 km. We spent all 3 evenings during my stay on the beach. Clear blue skies, sea green water, fresh air – you would find all of these at plenty here.
If you need to take a quiet stroll holding hands, sit back and watch the setting sun or even go jogging with a picturesque view to remember; Jomtien Beach is the place. I could not have asked more for a break from the hustle bustle of Bangkok.
If you are a water sports junkie, you can indulge to your heart’s content – be it parasailing, water scooters or even scuba diving. There are plenty of places to rent beach chairs, umbrellas and hawkers selling their wares from beer and cold drinks to prawns and lobsters.
For me, it’s a perfect place for couples, family and friends. You get so many options at one place and can choose to opt for your favourites. There are numerous shacks, pubs and restaurants lined along the beach road that spoil you for a choice of food and drinks.
Tip: The best way to get around in Pattaya is on a Baht Bus. It had pre-designated stops every 500 m and definitely cheaper than taxis or even scooter taxis.
Sanctuary of Truth
This beautiful wooden architecture was visible from the hotel room. Every sight deepened the mystery and we were longing to unravel the story behind it. My curiosity ended when we spotted it in the list of tourist attractions in Pattaya for couples and families.
It is a piece of neoclassical architectural marvel. The project was initiated as an idea of Thai businessman Lek Viriyaphant in 1981 and is scheduled to be complete in 2050.TThe main style of the sanctuary is based on the Thai architecture of the Ayutthaya period, richly decorated by Hindu-Buddhist hand-carved wooden sculptures drawn from various artistic traditions, including Dravidian, Angkorean, Chinese, Mon Dvaravati, Srivijayan, and Thai.
If you are visiting Pattaya, you must make it a point to visit this magnificent monument. If you are looking for a photo shoot destination in Pattaya for couples, you have to visit Sanctuary of Truth.
Pattaya’s most exciting aquarium, Underwater World should be on your map if you are intrigued by nature’s creation or are with kids. Though not a textbook romantic destination, it could as well be included in the itinerary in Pattaya for couples.
It brings a slice of the deep ocean on shore in a series of exhibits that take you from the sandy beaches to shallow rock pool teeming with colourful reefs to the open ocean where predators and prays swim side by side.
Enjoy the live feeding shows and watch the real-time action as you progress down the 100-metre acrylic tunnel, with all the brilliantly coloured creatures plying the waters above and all around you. Discover the riches of the world’s deep ocean, and you will be amazed at how much you learn in one entertaining hour.
Walking Street, Pattaya
Is walking street safe for couples? What’s there in Pattaya for couples? What will couples do at walking street? There are so many such questions I have come across when I uploaded my honeymoon pictures on Instagram. Few friends even laughed at me “how can you take your husband there?” or “how can he take his wife to walking street?”.
I really wanted to answer for everyone at that point. Unfortunately, I wasn’t a blogger then. Walking street is absolutely safe for couples in Pattaya. Walking Street Pattaya houses the best nightlife in Thailand and in fact south-east Asia. The street is highly safe with constant tourist police presence. At the same time, it is strictly an adult area. Please don’t take your kids along.
There are so many shopping stalls on the street plus shops around the street. I got my first set of Miniso cosmetics and essentials from Walking street Pattaya store itself. We were on that street till 4 a.m. and all the shops were open all night. You could experience world-class discs and pubs including Indian ones.
Central Festival Mall, Pattaya
This mall was about 800 Mts away from the hotel we stayed and it’s attached to Hilton Pattaya. The mall brings a slice of High Street shopping to Pattaya. It was a mix of most common brands like Zara, H&M and then lots of Thai and European brands. I chose to shop at exclusive Thai shops as I won’t get them in India.
We added it here as it was a sight to behold in Christmas festive decorations ( unfortunately, we didn’t have our cameras on us) and as a couple, you simply cannot overlook shopping!
What to eat in Pattaya?
We wanted to experience everything possible. Even though we were offered happy hours at Amari from 5-7 p.m. where you get complimentary bite-sized delicacies and a reasonably stocked open bar, we could not resist the charm of local street food.
If you are looking for an exclusive experience, I would strongly suggest, The Mantra at Amari, Pattaya which has been voted 4th among top 10 choice restaurants in Thailand. Otherwise, the beach road is lined with numerous eateries, where you can bite into some freshly prepared seafood. Even after 1 a.m., when these down shutter, if you are looking for a bite, drop into any 7/11 or Family Mart (open 24/7) and get a quick take away from the freezer (heated in a microwave).
Yes, one more thing, if you feel like having some desi grub, fear not, you would find quite a few Indian restaurants in Pattaya for the ones missing the flavours of home.
As always, please drop in your thoughts and questions in the comments below. Stay safe and prosper in the New Year!
